"Consider This a Calling"- Marianne Williamson

Marianne Williamson and Victoria Feldman

Back in November 2016, I had a strong premonition that my life was going to change in ways that would expand me forever.

Having lost my baby brother to cancer in 2011 and relocating from the peacefulness of a small coastal town to the intensity and drama of a big city like Los Angeles made me question every twist and turn of the road I was on.

I remember going to see Marianne Williamson lecture at the Saban theatre in L.A. and I expressed my concerns. She said very matter of factly, “It will all be revealed to you. Consider this a calling.”

To counter the intensity (and a lot of insanity), I threw myself into my spiritual studies and practices. I finished my second book, “Hello, Beautiful-How the Power of Self Love Heals & Transforms You Forever.” I traveled to Maui to spend time with Dr. Wayne Dyer. I began blogging. I took long walks. I prayed and mediated…a lot.

Financially, things got worse. My simple two bedroom apartment in Marina del Rey cost me over $4,000 a month. Storage another $1,000 a month. I was burning through my retirement and my savings. My income from coaching and real estate barely paid the bills. Finally, in 2016, I packed up (actually, I had never unpacked except for the essentials) and moved back to Northern California.

With my tail between my legs, I felt defeated and alone.

What was this calling Marianne had assured me was necessary for my growth and expansion?

While in L.A., I felt very fortunate that my coaching practice consisted of clients who were not only earnest in their quest to learn about how Law of Attraction works, but had the means to pay my fee. I was grateful for their support and honored and humbled they chose me to guide them on their journey to wholeness.

One of my clients referred me to a woman going through a very painful divorce. That call came in November, 2016, just days after I had experienced this profound premonition that my life was going to change forever.

We started working together. As a trained (CTI) Co-Active coach, I was taught to see my clients as naturally creative, resourceful and whole, and completely capable of finding their own answers to whatever challenges they face.

My client is extremely intelligent, and although I believed she possessed all she needed to persevere, her feelings of terror and confusion as she faced life as a single woman after 36 years of marriage was overwhelming.

It has been four years now. I have come to understand emotional disorders I wasn’t connected to as an energy life coach. Relying and working with my client’s psychiatrist and psychologist, I have a new respect for the mental health professionals who specialize in chronic depression, PTSD, suicidal ideation and other serious disorders that affect a person’s cognitive ability to function at an optimum level of mental wellness.

All my years of studying positive psychology, then integrating it with Law of Attraction’s ideology was an “Ah Ha’ moment for me. It became crystal clear to me that family law attorneys would benefit greatly by hiring life coaches to assist them in making sure their clients are able to comprehend legal documents that can greatly impact their divorce agreements.

Because of my client’s situation, and what could have been an unfair and unjust settlement due to her mental issues, I now include Crisis Intervention and Mediation in my practice. None of this would have happened had I stayed in the safety and security of my little cocoon in Carmel, California where my daily routine consisted of long walks on my favorite beach path, pilates, cooking and gardening.

Marianne was spot on. My purpose was unfolding and I had to be in L.A., spend most of my money, study and practice the empowerment that comes from shedding old beliefs, feelings and thoughts so I could expand.

The story isn’t over. Pre-COVID, I traveled to L.A. regularly and every trip brought me closer and closer to the clarity I have been longing for…for half of my life.

When you are down, depressed, scared…don’t give up. Consider this a calling.
